Ceramic Making Techniques.
Before becoming a beautiful jar, the jar must first be formed from clay. Here are some techniques commonly used to shape clay into beautiful jars:
1. Coil technique The coil technique or commonly known as the spiral wax technique is a technique by twisting clay into a long strand resembling a worm. Then, the strands will be arranged in a circle following the desired shape
2. Striking stone technique Face stone technique or so-called finger massage technique. This technique is done by forming the clay into a sphere like a ball, then pressing the center to form the soil.
3. Slab technique (slab). Slab or slab technique is a technique for forming clay using a slab or roll. This technique is a little different from the coil technique and the rock-facing technique because it doesn't use hands.
4. Rotary technique. The rotary technique is a technique of forming clay using a rotary tool. Clay making uses a lot of this technique because it can produce more shapes than other techniques. The form of ceramics that can be made with this technique is a symmetrical technique and varies. Traditional ceramic craftsmen usually use hand or foot rotating tools.
5. Print technique. The printing technique is a modern technique for forming ceramics or jars. This technique uses a mold to create a ceramic shape. Usually craftsmen use this technique in order to produce goods in large quantities. The mold materials used are hollow molds, solid molds, jigger molds or molds by adding sticky decorations. This method is used in ceramic factories with mass production, such as household utensils, plates, cups, glass cups, etc.
6. Print Technique Press. Press Printing Technique is the most modern technique and is usually used to print ceramics that have additional motifs. Press printing techniques are commonly used to make tiles or wall hangings with various animal and plant motifs.
